We are finally back from a wonderful vacation! After spending 10 days and 9 nights in Puerto Rico we had to face reality and bear the cold. It was a great trip and Claire really enjoyed it. The flight down was great - it was at 7AM so I just kept Claire in her PJs and she never really woke up until I took her out of the carseat at the airport. She slept about 75% of the flight down which meant Mommy got a nap too! We met Grandma and Pipere at the airport and then picked up Kristin a little while later. Kristin looked back at Claire in the car seat and barely recognized her - they say she got big. I guess we don't see it because we see her everyday. She turned 7 months today - how time flies!
Claire LOVED the water. The first time I put her in the pool she freaked but that was my fault because I just put her in the float without easing her into the water. Everyone other time she loved it and never wanted to get out. We would spend a long time in the pool then dip her feet in the ocean then back in the pool again. She was soooo happy while we were there. Grandma and Pipere kept her in their room at night which made them very happy. Claire is Little Miss Chatterbox in the morning. She would sleep until 7:30 or 8:30 and the just laugh and play for an hour before eating. Claire tried mangoes and pineapple in Puerto Rico and enjoyed them both. The only food she doesn't like is still green bean and peas, but she will eat them if mixed with anything else.
After a great vacation, the trip home was eventful. The flight was overbooked and I, of course, learned from my father to volunteer. I was a little hesitant to say yes because we would have to take a connecting flight through Miami instead of a direct flight, BUT who could turn down a $300 voucher for me, Dan , and Andrea. We took the voucher and after two flights and two security checks Claire did excellent on the planes. Between the two flights she slept 90% of the time, which made me a very happy camper! The 4 hours of time we sacrificed ended up being well worth the vouchers we received.
Claire has a few new tricks. She moves herself while she is asleep and now rolls on her side with her head in the corner of the crib. We also have an unsupported sitter! She has been close for a while but just this week really caught on. She will still fall backwards after a while, but nothing a little pillow can't fix. I took a video this afternoon so you can see. It shouldn't be long before she rolls over from back to stomach - she is about 80% there. We will you updated!
Comments:Don: Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. And free flights to go with it. And Miss Claire is doing just fine too. Glad you had a great time and I enjoyed all the pictures you sent... All 227 of them. Ha!!!Add a comment:

Mommy got an A+ today at daycare. Why?? Because I got motivated this weekend and made Claires baby food. It was much easier than I expected and very cost efficient. Plus, it allows me to hide the peas in other veggies such as carrots and sweet potatoes! Those were the only three veggies I made, but next time I will try some different ones. Any suggestions out there?
Comments:Lori, Alyssa and Natalie: YAY!!!! Isn't is scary how much cheaper it is? Great job! =) Mangos are in season right now and you don't have to cook them. Just peel, dice and puree. woot woot!Add a comment:

Things are changing! Miss Claire had a much needed growth spurt since her last doctors visit. She weighed in at a whopping 13lb 10 oz. The doctor was very happy with her weight gain and told us to keep feeding her. Claire is still in the middle of the pack with her length (26 inches) and head (42cm). Another big change - we have moved to 3-6 month clothes and Size 2 diapers!
Claire is eating like a champ these days. The breastfeeding is winding down since Claire is much more interested in her fruits and vegetables. She started vegetables on Thanksgiving and has since enjoyed almost every kind of vegetable there is. She likes the sweet ones better, but if she is really hungry she will eat peas or green beans. On Christmas she started eating fruits and she LOVES them. Well, at least the bananas, pears, and applesauce that she has tried. I tried mashing an avocado today to feed her and she DID NOT enjoy it. She was gagging trying to eat it!
No new tricks for her. When she feels like it she will roll over from her stomach to her back. Once she does it once she will do it 10 times in a row. Other times, she simply isn't interested. She loves playing with her feet and sucking on her three middle fingers facing out (sound like anyone - Andrea???) She thoroughly enjoys her exersaucer and loves to sit and play in it. She is quite a little chatterbox and and has discovered her voice can make high pitch sounds.
That's about it for now- enough rambling! We are heading to Puerto Rico next Saturday and I can't wait to introduce Claire to the pool and the beach. :-)Comments:Andrea: So what, I used to suck my fingers till I was way too old for that to be socially acceptable - that is why they created braces, she'll be fine! And I don't see too much curly hair growing on her!Cindy: So glad to hear she is doing good.. She is a beautiful child and we enjoy watching her grow...We love you all and can't wait to see you all again... I am so jealous of your upcoming trip to Puerto Rico..We loved Puerto Rico....have a great time...Don't forget to tell the people at the desk you are Ray Smith's neice ! Love You !!Don: Hooray for Claire. A tall skinny girl so far, but wait until she starts growing out. It's good to hear she's grown so much. And keep feeding her those sweet potatoes for her sweet tooth. That will get her to 15 pounds and more!!! It's great to hear about a very good doctor's report. And what's with sucking the fingers, Andrea??? So does this mean Claire will have curly hair? I couldn't resist that one. Have fun in PR... Be sure to send pictures.Add a comment:
