I would like to say that things are settling down in the Snider household, but unfortunately that isn't the case! Mommy started back to work, which is going alright. Our morning routine starts with Mommy getting up at 4:45 AM to shower and get ready, then get Claire up, change and feed her, and then turn her over to Dad in time for Mom to catch the bus around 6AM. Claire sleeps or hangs out while Dad gets ready and then he brings her to daycare around 7.
That routine was all and well until we headed to Massachusetts this weekend for my cousins wedding. Dan went to play tennis and rolled his ankle. We didn't even get to see Claire all dressed up for the wedding because we were sitting in the ER waiting for Dan's X-rays. He didn't break it, but he did severely sprain it. This means he can barely walk himself, let alone carry himself or Claire up two flights of stairs. Our neighbor has been nice enough to take Claire to daycare in the mornings. She told us that for the first time she patiently waited for the light to turn red before crossing the street. And then when she dropped of Claire they asked her if she was the Grandma - how embarrassing!! She has helped us out so much, including bringing Dan lunch the last two days and driving him to his doctors appointment. Thank god there are still some nice people out there!
I know you want to hear about Claire - she is doing great. She loves to smile and tries really hard to talk. Her mouth goes a mile a minute and once in a while she lets out a good squeak. She finally found her thumb, actually both thumbs, and loves to shove it or any part of her hand in her mouth. She loves her Fisher Price Rainforest aquarium and bouncy seat. When it lights up her eyes get really big and her legs go a mile a minute, it's pretty comical!
That's about it for now....time for me to make dinner, do laundry, feed the baby, take care of the gimp, clean up, and get Claires things ready for day care tomorrow. Just so I can wake up around 1:30 to pump and then 4:45 to start these wonderful days all over again :-) I hope Dan is mobile again soon, now I know how he felt when I was pregnant!Comments:Meredith: Bad Meredith - I turned my alarm off to get up to pump at 1:30 and didn't wake up again until 3:20, but I got up to pump anyways. And then I turned my alarm off at 4:45 (in my sleep of course!) and didn't wake up until 5:17 AM!! Oops... Dan, you better get well soon - I can't function without you taking care of me :-)Add a comment:

So, you ask, how was Mommys first day back at work?? Well, I wouldn't know because I haven't gone back yet! Not by choice... Since I took an unpaid leave of absence for more than two weeks I had to take the full medical exam before returning to work. It takes between 1-2 weeks to turn around the test results. I took the tests the day after we got back from SC, but apparently that wasn't soon enough since the results haven't come back yet. The most frustrating thing is I will get the E-mail one day and return to work the next. So much for mentally preparing myself to go back to work....
Claire was already enrolled in day care to start September 8th, so I am sending her in the morning. However, if I have something to do, I don't hesitate to pick her up. Tuesday we went to our last New Mother Support Group, which was kind of sad. That group was very helpful to me and I got to meet lots of new moms in Hoboken. And since it was our last class, that meant it was my last time to measure Claire's milk transfer while nursing. This week she had the greatest transfer ever - almost 5 ounces! That just reassures me that this breastfeeding thing is working itself out. I don't know if I ever mentioned, but we no longer have to use the nipple shield. When Claire was 8-9 weeks old she just starting latching on like nothing had ever been wrong. Now, if we could figure out and keep up with this pumping thing... :-)Comments:Add a comment:

So much going on...I feel like I haven't updated in forever. Claire was a champ on her first airplane ride! I carried her in the Baby Bjorn and security was no problem at all. She fell asleep right before we got on the plane and was content the entire ride. The plane was pretty empty on our flights down and back so that helped a ton. We had a great time in South Carolina and got to catch up with friends, which is always nice. Claire got all dressed up for the Clemson football game and spent the day with Grandma while Mom and Dad went to the game - too bad it wasn't a better game to watch! :-(
The day after we got back from South Carolina, Claire had quite the day. She started in day care in the morning. I think it was worse for me than her, but we had to do it. She was only there from 7:30 - 9:30 because she had her 2 month doctors appt at 10. She had to get two shots and an oral vaccine. She screamed after the shots, but was fine once I picked her up - what a faker! The doctor said she is doing well but really wanted me to work on her weight gain. Since her last appointment she has only gained 6 ounces. Her weight is below the 10th percentile, while her height is between the 50th and 75th percentile. As the doctor put it - maybe she just doesn't know what's good for her yet. So now when I give her a bottle, she will get 4 ounces. It will be interesting to see how we keep up with work, pumping, etc...
After Claires doctors appointment, we ventured into the city because I had my return to work medical. We met up with friends for lunch before my medical and then we were at the doctors for over 2 hours. Claire was really well behaved - until we got home! She was pretty fussy all night, but is much better now.
Yesterday she did another 2 hours at day care before we went to Mommy & Me movies. And then today is the big day....I plan to leave her at day care for the majority of the day. I don't know if I will make it, but we are trying. I dropped her off around 9:30 and I will try to stay busy. I head back to work on Wednesday - assuming all my test results come back before then. I hope I am ready...
That's about it for now. Time to get busy with chores...
Happy Birthday Pipere! :-)Comments:Add a comment:
