Claire had her one month check up today, although she is a little older than one month. She is gaining weight and is now 9 lb 1 oz. She takes after her father with her height, she is now 22 1/4 inches, which is in the 75th percentile - she certainly doesn't get that from me!

Claire has started smiling at us, which is awesome. She is also starting to make adorable noises. Overall, she is a really good baby except for a few hours at night when she gets fussy - usually from 7 to 9. However, we might have solved that by introducing the pacifier. We held out for a while, but she is at the point now where she will find her thumb if we don't give her the pacifier. We only give it to her when she is really fussy. Her sleeping patterns haven't changed, still sleeping from about 11:30 to 6 and then goes back to sleep for a few hours. :-)

Claire is going to be quite the traveler - are you surprised? We have been to Massachusetts twice, we head to Vermont next Wednesday and her first plan ride will be heading to South Carolina on August 26th. We are looking forward to our trips and visits with family and friends!

Lori and Natalie: OMG she sounds EXACTLY like Alyssa!!! We held out on the paci for awhile too. I am NOT a paci giving mama but she loves to suck and there is only so long that she can eat. Her fussy time is around 6/7-8/9 and she sleeps the exact amount of time at night as Claire. WEIRD! I LOVE that she sleeps until morning already. Natalie didn't do this until more like 13 weeks. Alyssa started at 3 weeks. IT.......IS.......AWESOME!!!!!

The doctor has cleared me to resume all normal activities in my life. That is, whatever I can find time for with an almost 4 week old. As far as weight goes - God bless breastfeeding because I am down 6 lbs from my pre pregnancy weight. The weight must be coming from all the wrong places because I don't see it! I find the weight loss ironic because just last night I asked Dan for a plum as a snack around 11 PM - and mentioned that I bought the plums because my snacks could no longer consist of chocolate chip cookies and ice cream!

Claire is doing well and getting big. She is still sleeping a lot and is a really good baby. She loves to go out in the Baby Bjorn. We have been for a few walks and yesterday we went grocery shopping. The Bjorn is nice because I still have my hands free to do whatever I need.

We are off now to visit Mommys work buddies. Let's hope Claire is on her best behavior!

Lori and Natalie: Wow I don't get cleared until 6 weeks. hmmmmm! The weight loss is another reason I am bummed that bf'ing didn't work out. It is awesome isn't it? Alyssa loves the sling that we have. Thank god b/c now I can grocery shop with both of them. Congrats on your anniversary also! Hard to believe that we just celebrated 5 years. Time FLIES! Keep posting pics of that gorgeous girl.

A day to celebrate! Can you believe 4 years ago Dan and I got married? In some ways it feels like yesterday and some ways it feels like forever ago. Now I have the best husband ever and a beautiful daughter - what more can a woman ask for? For our anniversary, Grandma and Grumpy Snider babysat while Dan and I went out to dinner at a Tapas bar in town - it was delicious. They must have done something right because Claire is sound asleep now. A little peace and quiet before she gets a bath and lathered in Johnson & Johnson night time lotion.

Not just because Andrea works there, but has anyone else tried the night time lotion on a baby? I loved it when I was pregnant and commented how it helped me sleep at night. Well, so far every night we have given Claire a bath before bed and put on that lotion she has slept for a long time. Monday night she fell asleep around 11:30 and when Dans alarm went off at 6 AM she was still sleeping!

Another celebration for tonight - yesterday I wore pre-pregnancy shorts for the day and tonight I wore a skirt. It's the small things that matter, right? My follow up appointment with the doctor is next Wednesday, so we will see where we stand with the weight.

That's about it for now. Dan and I love Miss Claire more than we ever thought possible. We enjoy seeing her change everyday and she is making us very happy.

Don: Congratulations and happy 4th; that is what's left of it. Claire is a joy and you look great, esp for having a baby just a few weeks ago. We should have stayed for the bath, but Peggy needs her beauty sleep.
