Oh my....today we scheduled the rest of our doctors appointments. I mean - all of them, right up to my due date! And we found out that the doctors office is moving to a new location that is only two blocks from our house. How nice will that be when I have to waddle to my appointments?

Once again, I am measuring right on at 31 weeks. Her heart was beating strong at 163 bpm. As the doctor said, my weight gain is "excellent" - I am up a total of 14 lbs! :-)

CHS, Dan, and I had a wonderful time in South Carolina this weekend. The baby shower was really fun and it was so good to see everyone again. CHS got some adorable clothes and we got lots of other fun necessities. Somehow we managed to get everything home - now if we just had somewhere to unpack it. We are working on that slowly but surely. This weekend we paint the nursery, we finally bought the paint tonight so we are ready to go. Once we get everything settled I will be sure to take pictures.

Well, today Dan and I got to see the labor and delivery ward at the hospital we are delivering at. It all started at 4 this morning when after getting up to go to the bathroom I started experiencing REALLY severe back pain in one location. To make a long story short I spent the next 2 1/2 hours tossing, turning, vomiting, sweating, freezing, etc. The pain was not going away so I finally called the doctor around 6:45. He told me it was probably a kidney infection or a kidney stone and I needed to head to the ER right away. Andrea was here so Dan, Andrea, and I headed out....

The ER really does not know what to do with pregnant women. They kept me in the ER for a while running blood work and giving me fluid. They refused to give me pain meds because my blood pressure was so low and they wouldn't let me walk to the bathroom either because they were afraid I might pass out. Finally I starting vomiting again, which raised my blood pressure enough to give me some morphine. Then I had an ultrasound, where they forgot to tell the tech that I was pregnant. I could have had fun with her asking - "Um....have you had an ultrasound for this baby yet?"- but I was in no mood to talk let alone joke around. Bottom line - the ER said they couldn't find anything wrong - no kidney stones, no kidney infection, and it must be pregnancy related.

Off to the early labor room....where they monitored the baby and contractions. CHS was just fine and I was definitely not having any contractions. Labor and delivery assured me this was NOT pregnancy related and suggested that I might have passed the kidney stone which was why the ER saw nothing and the pain was decreasing. After 3 1/2 Liters of fluid and 7 hours in the hospital I feel like a different person. They finally discharged me, which I am sure made poor Dan and Andrea very very happy!

Thankfully, we are still good to head to South Carolina tomorrow for the shower. My doctor said as long as I feel fine, it is up to me if I want to fly. But I had to promise that I would drink lots and lots and lots of fluids today. So, now I am drinking tons of Gatorade and water while Dan and Andrea are passed out trying to recover from taking care of me. Just a normal Friday afternoon....or something like that!

Maryellen:  Oh you poor thing. I also had a kidney stone. After that labor won't be so bad. You must have been very scared. I though Iwas dying when I had mine, or at least I wished I would just die so I didn't feel the pain. Morphine is a great drug though isn't it. Take care I love you and I am so sorry about your scarey experience. Love Maryellen
Lori and Natalie:  OH NO!!! I am glad that it turned out to be nothing but how scary!!!! Nothing like a night in the ER to make you appreciate your own docs. Sorry we are going to miss you this weekend. I hate that you are actually going to be here and we are going to be in Lexington.

So they say around the fifth month, the "nesting" instinct can set in. This uncontrollable urge to clean one's house is brought on by a desire to prepare a nest for the new baby, to tie up loose ends of old projects and to organize your world. I am definitely at that point and there is no turning back now! Dan and I have bought a new stove and microwave, and tomorrow we are buying a new living room set. Because, of course the ones we have had for the last three years in the condo are not good enough anymore. I have thrown out lots of stuff and asked Dan to do the same. Maybe we are normal, who knows?

I have also been trying to keep everything clean around the house as well. That means I have to put Dans shirts away, but before that I must IRON them.... and I hate ironing, it is my least favorite household chore ever. I came up with a solution to the amount of ironing I have to do, but Dan doesn't think that wearing his shirts to work twice before washing them is reasonable. Maybe I am losing my mind a little bit....

CHS got to spend some time with both Aunts Kristin and Andrea this weekend. Kristin and Dan walked my butt around NYC all day Saturday and then we met Andrea for some quality time at Babies R Us. On the way home, they all got to see how rude people can be on the subways. Not one person offered their seat to the visibly pregnant lady whose feet were absolutely killing me! :-( They all ignore you and act like they don't even see you and your large stomach standing there. It happens all the time, but I think Dan, Kristin, and Andrea were a little surprised!

Sorry I missed the picture update today - I didn't get a chance to take a picture last night. Look for the update tonight and more stories next week. We are off to South Carolina Saturday morning for the first baby shower....how exciting!

    Comments:
Marissa:  Don't worry, it happens to the best of us! I can't tell you how many trips we made to Goodwill before Emma was born!
Don:  How exciting. The wash and ironing will be waiting when you arrive. maybe you can even get in some house cleaning Saturday morning before the shower. Then we have all day Sunday to clean up too. It's supposed to be rainy so you won't want to go out anyway. Hahahaha.... Looking forward to seeing you and Dan in a couple of days! It should be fun.

Finally - we have a pediatrician! After a couple of "prenatal consultations" we have found a doctor that we really like. One more item checked off the ever growing to do list!

We have also picked out a paint color for CHS' room. We didn't want to deviate too much from the other colors throughout the condo because who knows how long we will be there. So, we picked a green color to match the bedding.

Tick, tick, tick...where is the time going?

The weekend is almost here, which means this past week seems to have flown by. I think the weekend will be quiet but I can't promise anything since Andrea has "something" planned for tomorrow and she won't tell me what it is. Let's hope it's something good :-)

Last night, Dan and I started the search for CHS' pediatrician. We had an office visit with a doctor, but I don't think Dan was too impressed. It didn't help that the doctor was 30 minutes late to a group of 8 people waiting for him. So, the search continues. We have another consult with a different pediatrician on Wednesday afternoon. Let's hope this one goes better than the last.

We bought one little piece of the bedding to match paint for the nursery. Maybe this weekend we will work on picking out paint. Mom and Dad are coming to town in a few weeks to help us paint, so we have to make sure we are ready to go.

Only 80 days left and so much to do....wish us luck!

It finally happened today....someone gave up their seat on the subway to the pregnant woman!! I guess that means I am really showing now. It probably didn't help that I actually wore a maternity shirt today, but still. Time is ticking - we are in the 3rd Trimester with only 83 days to go.

Meredith:  I do feel her move alot, mostly during the early evening into the night. She doesn't keep me up at night (yet!) and I have actually been sleeping really well, thanks to my pregnancy pillow! Let's hope that trend keeps up. And, we love our doctors too - they are great!
