One more doctors appointment down! We're almost at 28 weeks and the doctor says everything is measuring out great. Can you believe we start the 3rd trimester on Monday? Her heart rate today was 146 bpm and my total weight gain has only been 11 pounds! That really blows my mind, but I am happy! The less I gain now, the less I have to lose once CHS is born. And don't worry, I am not starving myself - ask Dan! The doctor says I am carrying long, which is why I might not look so big. No round basketball look for me, at least not yet.
Today was also the glucose tolerance test and we should get the results back in 5 days. I just hope we passed this time, because I would not look forward to taking the 3 hour test. The drink was not as bad tasting as I expected, but it was not good either.
The registry is coming along slowly but surely. I must admit we have done some stuff online while reading Consumer Reports and Baby Bargains - I found those books to be really helpful.
We still have a few important things left to do - a name would be a good start. But, we also have to clean out the nursery and paint her room. We are going to keep a similar color to what is there now, light green, but it does need to be painted. The stress of a to do list is starting to settle in, but we will work on it one task at a time.
We head down to South Carolina on April 19th for our first baby shower! The doctor gave me the OK to fly (good thing since we already bought the tickets). He just gave me a copy of my medical records and asked that I take them with me just in case...
Sorry for the rambling - I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Comments:Lori: Are you going to have any time that weekend? Maybe we could meet for coffee or something.Peg and Don: Sounds like a good report. Carrying long, huh? Sounds good to me. We're headed to the steeplechase in a bit and there shouldn't be any snowmen to build (HA!). Good luck on the test and we're looking forward to your visit.Add a comment:

The new weekly picture has been added for your enjoyment. Dan and I finally beefed up our registry at BabiesRUs over the weekend. Of course, Dans favorite part was walking around the store with the gun to scan all the items we picked. I feel like we are still missing some major items, so take a look and let me know what you think. One thing I know we are missing is the car seat! We couldn't find a pattern that we like - all the girl ones were a little over the top. On the other hand, we found a bedding set that I love! We think it will match the room perfectly.
Lately it seems that CHS is sucking everything out of me. By the time I got to work yesterday, I thought I was going to pass out. I think my blood sugar just bottomed up, but it was pretty scary. Thankfully we have a litte couch in the womans room where I was able to relax for a bit. After eating two packets of sugar I started to feel a little better. I guess that is a sign to start altering my eating habits - especially before leaving for work. So, what did I do today? I drank some Naked juice and ate a spoonful of peanut butter. We'll see what the doctor says next Friday.
I have been able to feel CHS' movements much more strongly lately. On Sunday night, my stomach was even moving with each kick/punch. She is almost 2 pounds now and about 14 inches long. Kind of crazy to think about.
That's about it for now. Enjoy the rest of your week!Comments:Add a comment:

Should I be concerned that CHS already has her days and nights mixed up? Well, at least from what I can tell! She isn't too active during the day, but starting around 7PM she starts kicking and/or punching (how would you know the difference?). Seeing how Dan stays up much later than I do, he takes full advantage of this time with his little girl. As he informed me this morning, he felt a few good kicks last night when I was sleeping.
Speaking of sleeping, I have become more restless at night - tossing and turning a lot more than I ever used to. I have come up with a great solution for this (and yes, I know it sounds weird!!). Take a shower in the afternoon or at night and shave, and before going to bed put on Johnson's Calming Lotion with Soothing Lavender and Chamomile. I am not crazy, these are the nights I get THE BEST sleep. Andrea will definitely be supplying that lotion for CHS.
I have also decided that we will be giving birth to a hippy baby. Dan enjoys playing music for her at night, so sometimes I wake up on the couch with headphones on my stomach. Of course, Dans choice of music so far has been Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers. Any other suggestions??
This weekend Dan gets his first taste of Babies-R-Us. Wish him luck! Hopefully we will be able to finish a good chunk of the registering. Thanks to so many awesome people, we are getting some items passed down to us so that means a little less time deciding! And would you believe me if I said Dan and I have not bought a single thing yet. This includes maternity clothes or anything for CHS! She will not be deprived, but we have been really good about restraining!
I hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks for all the comments, we love reading them!
Comments:Megan: Her sleeping patterns will change once she's born, and gets into a routine. Routine's are so important. Billy Joel concerts coming. We should take the baby. That's music !!!!!beth: good call on not buying anything. i swear we didn't buy anything until miller was a year old. i saw let others spoil you rotten and only buy stuff when you have to.Andrea: Next time I'm there CHS is listening to U2...and Dan is going to love it!Add a comment:

CHS already loooooves her daddy! She had a little boxing/kickboxing match with him last night. She gave his hand a few good ones while we were watching TV. Dan really enjoys feeling her move around. I have noticed that she is a lot more active starting around 6 or 7 PM. I really don't feel her much during the day, (unless I eat a cupcake!), but she is definitely active at night.
Comments:Stephanie: So exciting! Can't wait to see the bump in person. :)Megan: See, I told you she'd start kicking soon. Now, in a few more weeks you'll notice buldges moving from side to side, and those you can actually see. It's the neatest thing.Andrea: Maybe you should stop at Magnolia's and get some cupcakes for the car ride home on Friday...mmmmAdd a comment:

Finally....Dan felt a kick yesterday, and no, not from me! I have been feeling her kick for a few weeks now, but Dan hadn't been able to. We were watching TV yesterday and CHS starting kicking. Since they were pretty strong kicks, possibly helped by the fact that I had just eaten a cupcake :-), I decided to have him give it a try. He usually gets annoyed because all he can feel is his own heartbeat, but this time he put his hand on my stomach and sure enough - she gave him a few good kicks. Maybe I should use this as an excuse eat cupcakes more often??
Unfortunately, the cupcake theory went out the window last night because Andrea was over and CHS was at it again - Andrea got to feel a kick too. It was kind of funny because right after CHS kicked, Andrea just looked at me as if to say - was that her? It is nice that other people can enjoy this experience too. :-)
I will update with another picture tonight. While I am definitely starting to pop, I think I look more chubby than pregnant!Comments:Lori and Natalie: YEAH! It is so fun when other people can enjoy her too. Alyssa finally flipped over (feet up) so now I can actually see the kicks. So COOL!!!Add a comment:
