One more doctors appointment down. This one was pretty uneventful to say the least, I was in and out in no time! Her heart rate was strong at 154 bpm and I measured out right at 22 weeks. I guess the big news is the weight gain......so far only a total of 9 lbs!! As the doctor said, I am still looking pretty "tight"! But I need to be careful because over the next few weeks my center of gravity will be changing and I will be more likely to lose my balance.

At my next doctors appointment I will be taking my glucose tolerance test. Thankfully, our doctors just give you the lovely orange drink to take home and tell you to drink it 45 minutes before the next appointment. That will save me 45 minutes of twiddling my thumbs in the office next time! I really love my doctors. It is a smaller practice with only two male doctors. There used to be 4, but one is out on disability and one on maternity leave. I guess the two doctors are surely making their moneys worth. One more scary thought - when we go for our next appointment (March 28th), we are going to schedule the REMAINDER of our doctors appointments...I think that means June is coming quickly! :-)

I have to admit that when Dan and I first went to the doctor after finding out we were pregnant, I never believed the doctor when he said I should only gain 10 lbs by the halfway point. I really thought he was insane, but I guess he knew best! 22 weeks and I still haven't reached that point, but I am sure it will only be a matter of days!

Once again, Dan weasled his way out of going to Babies R Us this weekend. We were in Massachusetts so I asked Megan to help me out with the smaller stuff on the registry - Thanks Megan!! We got that done so now Dan and I have to decide on all the bigger things. How we love to make decisions!

Dan and I will keep you updated! We are starting to get really excited!

    Comments:
Kristin:  Good Update Mere. That is exciting stuff. I agree with Don - You, Adam, and Dan should spend some quality time together at Babies-R-Us. Keep the updates coming. And pictures too! Can't wait to see you soon!
beth:  that's awesome weight gain. i had a friend like that too and she popped big time. she never gained weight anywhere else but she had one of the biggest preggo bellies i've ever seen. she ended up gaining like 40 pounds. but that's great. you want to only gain the baby weight and no other weight. i managed to only gain 30 the whole pregnancy but i gained alot of it quickly.
Don:  Thanks for the info. Glad you got a good report. Dan, get off your butt!!! If I have to shop at We Be Babies and Baby USA, you'd better find your way there to register. And with Meredith! And this weekend. Get off your butt and TiVO the basketball games. And bring Adam with you for company.
Meredith, be careful with that center of gravity thing too.... Only 9 pounds... That's about to change drastically!!! Sorry about that! You'd better get Dan to start thinking about names too. You don't want to start picking out names in the hospital. I still like Margaret Peggy.... Ha!

Thanks to everyone who has given me tips for registering. We are getting closer to taking another trip back to Babies R Us. I have been reading Consumer Report for Baby Products which is pretty helpful as well! And I am sure Dan loves when I interrupt his TV shows to talk to him about diapers, bottles, cribs, car seats, etc....Right, Dan? (Thank God for TiVo!)

Unfortunately, I couldn't post a video of the ultrasound like we had hoped. Dan was going to film it for us, but we found out that for insurance purposes, it is against the law in New Jersey to take pictures during ultrasounds. How crazy is that! I guess the pictures will have to do for now.

On another note, the lovely symptoms of pregnancy seem to be really kicking in. For about two weeks now I have been getting leg cramps while I sleep. Oh how I love waking up in the middle of the night with a charley horse! If I start getting bruises on my legs, don't worry, Dan isnt beating me, I am just trying to punch out the pain of a charley horse in the middle of the night! Symptom #2 - hunger, hunger, hunger - need I say more? I really make a concerted effort to only keep healthy snacks in my office which seems to be helping. If I eat any more carrots I might turn into one, but at least I will be able to see good at night (right, Peggy?). I guess that brings me to symptom #3 - my eyesight is HORRIBLE! They say that is normal, but it still makes me crazy. Thank God I have glasses to wear! And, last but not least (I always save the best for last!), I am pretty sure I have been feeling this little girl kick. It's about time isn't it?

I hope everyone has a great week. Hopefully it goes by quickly since some of us have a three day weekend ahead of us. That means more cleaning and throwing out JUNK to make room for this precious little girl.

Stephanie:  Congratulations on your baby!! As for the charly horses, I had them with all my pregnacies, and I found that if you lay really still it will pass. Anyway good luck to you!!

Help!! For those of you reading this who have recently had kids (or work with them!), please help! This weekend I made a trip to Babies R Us with Mom and Andrea. I just wanted to look around and check a few things out. I never imagined there would be sooooooooo many choices for everything. Considering the fact that I am not one that esily makes decisions, I think Dan and I are really in for it. How do you ever decide? So, help me out here, what could you not live without? What are those must have items?? Dan and I will be returning sometime soon to start registering.

On another hand, today marks the half way point for our preganancy. I find it very exciting that we are that much closer to meeting this little girl. We are looking forward to feeling her kick and move around, which should be happening very soon. We head back for another ultrasound on Thursday and I am going to try to get some video while we are there. Hopefully this time around she will cooperate so the tech can get those last three measurements.

    Comments:
Megan:  I think I had just about everything covered on the registry list for Jimmy. I had alot of help from family and friends, so anything I'd forgotted was added by someone else. I will be sure to give Andrea that list for you, and hopefully it'll solve all of your problems. Maybe!!!!
Meredith:  You guys are awesome, thanks for the suggestions!
Becky:  We were insane and did our registry all at one time. We were there for 4 hours. Just a suggestion, look at the smaller things online (you'll want to pull out the strollers/car seats, etc and play with them to find out which is best). May save some time!
beth:  they should give you a list when you go to register of things to think about. it's super helpful. but some things we've loved too are the bumbo or bebepod seat (not for a few months) and exersaucer (again you can't put her in it for a few months). also consider a pack-n-play if you travel any. we love to take it along even to other couples houses when he needed to sleep. taht way we could be out past his bed time and he could still sleep. i'll keep thinking.
Leah:  Well, over the last few years my family have grown by 7... So I have some expereince with newborns and lots of baby showers. The few items I know you cannot live without and I have heard are real lifesavers are the Diaper Genie, pacifiers, cloth diapers for burping and quick clean up, a swing, and crib bumpers. Then you know there are all of the basics, diapers, formula, bottles, diaper rash cream, car seat, stroller, crib, and house safety equiptment... but those are all of the things you register for. I will ask all of my cousins who have had kids in the last couple of years, and see what they couldnt live without! If you have any questions or need anything, please feel free! I am so happy for you!
maryellen:  You will definetly need diapers. I would sugest the disposable kind. LOL I have found both the swaddler and the baby swing to be most important for calming both parents and baby. baby sewat are nice but if you are tight for space the car seat works well too. The most important thing is lots of kissing.
Marissa:  First trip to Babies R Us, eh? LOL. It will get easier! Honestly, the one thing I could not have lived without cannot be bought at babies r us. It was the world's best swaddling blanket from www.miracleblanket.com. I didn't get Emma's until she was a month or two old and it was PRICELESS!
Andrea:  I feel like you probably won't be able to live without the wee-wee sponge, even if you are having a girl. This recommendation comes from my extensive experience with babies.
